Using iTunes with the Radio Peckham Podcast
Podcasting combines the terms iPod and broadcasting, and describes audio content delivered through the Internet that can be downloaded and played on your computer or transferred to a portable MP3 player (like an iPod) so you can listen offline. This is different to streaming audio where you need to visit a web page and listen there and then to the audio. You can't listen to this offline because the MP3 file has not been downloaded onto your computer.
You don't need a portable MP3 player or an iPod to listen to podcasts. You can download them to your computer and listen to them using free software such as iTunes, Real Player or Windows Media Player.
Podcasting gives you more control over where, when and how you listen to audio. You can be selective over the audio you want to receive and then get automatic updates as soon as more audio is available. So if you subscribe to the Radio Peckham Podcast, every time a new show is available you will receive it on your computer automatically. Now you can listen to this show anytime you want or transfer it to a portable device like a ipod and listen on the move.
Once you subscribe, iTunes will automatically download the latest podcast shows onto your computer when they are available. You will then be free to listen to the show in iTunes when you like.
